Sunset Overdrive (Game Review)

It also sold decently. Movement in Sunset Overdrive once you have learnt the controls is an absolute delight. From the game's beginning, you're given the chance to customize your character as you see fit. Movement in Sunset Overdrive is best described as parkour in low gravity. You'll also be able to complete traversal challenges, mini-games and side missions given by supporting characters.

Once you unlock this mission, you can keep replaying it, so this is an effective way to get lots of in-game currency quickly if, say, you want to buy one of the high-level weapons towards the end of the game. Players are encouraged to mix and match traversal elements to fill a staggered 'Style' meter, with higher levels of style unlocked by diverse play and skilful combinations.

Sunset City used to be like any other city in the world, with people going on about their lives until a fateful day when zombie-like creatures started appearing in the city. The amount of customization options will make your character look like a bass player for your big brother's favorite punk band.

Sunset City is freakin' enormous and every single inch of it is accessible, it's just a matter of mastering the players free running abilities. Sunset Overdrive feels liberating in many ways; from the ridiculous character options allowing hilariously freakish combinations, to the tongue-in-cheek fun offered by the dynamic combat in a vibrant world.

Insomniac's speciality, even in more serious games like Resistance, is imaginative weapons; which is another thing that most modern games have completely forgotten how to do. There's a few boring ones in Sunset Overdrive, like pistols and machineguns, but the majority are things like a gun that shoots LPs, a megaphone that launches explosive teddies, Sunset Overdrive a freeze gun, a fireworks gun, and a weapon that shoots remote control helicopters that then fly around shooting bad guys for you.

At least when it comes to Amps, the best are dished out through story progression, although you will need to have gathered a certain number of collectible items before starting the mission that grants them, but the small quantities required will likely have been picked up through natural play.
